Odyssey 2-Ball Putter Loses Ball but finds a perfect fit replacement from an unlikely source.
In a new development in the continuing saga of the Odyssey 2-Ball putter that became a 1-Ball putter, help has arrived from a most unlikely source – the infamous Chicken Ranch of La Grange, Texas. The Chicken Ranch was a popular bordello for many years and was the inspiration for the play and movie starring Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds entitled “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.”
The story of the Odyssey 2-Ball putter that lost a ball is told in another article on this site (link above). The basics are these. During a round of golf the owner of the putter (yours truly) noticed that his dependable 2-Ball putter was missing one ball. Apparently, it is not possible to order parts (a plastic ball) for Callaway equipment. When the putter was sent to be repaired, it was deemed by Callaway to be unrepairable. The only option was to purchase a new putter (at a small discount).
So it seemed that the 2-Ball putter was destined to live out its days of usefulness severely handicapped by having only one ball.
Then things changed abruptly when one of my playing partners found a perfect fitting replacement for the missing ball. It is a parking token from the Chicken Ranch. A little glue and some brass polish and the putter is now better than new as can be seen in the above picture.
